Daylight Saving Time Changes

Overview

Starting in the spring of 2007, the United States changed the start and end dates for Daylight Saving Time (DST). The changes required updates to computers and other electronic systems that adjusted the time based on DST observance.

At this point, all ITS-supported computers and systems have been updated and ITS staff are not aware of any significant problems for computers with updated software and operating systems installed.

The start time for DST now occurs on the second Sunday in March instead of the first Sunday in April. DST will now end on the first Sunday in November instead of the last Sunday in October.

Appointments that were created on electronic schedulers before March 2007 may still be effected by the change, and should be verified for accuracy. Users are encouraged to check events that occur:

  • between the second Sunday in March and the first Sunday April, and
  • between the last Sunday in October and the first Sunday November.

If you have any questions please contact the ITS Help Desk at 231-8685 (option 1). Thank you.
