A. Most campus computers were updated in early 2007 to handle the change in Daylight-Saving Time. If you are not sure whether your computer was updated, see the information below or call the ITS Help Desk at 1-8685 or e-mail NDSU.HelpDesk@ndsu.edu
A. Windows Vista includes the correct Daylight
Saving Time dates. Other Windows systems prior to Windows XP SP2
(XP with service patch 2) are generally not supported and changes
will have to be made to the system manually or the clock manually
reset. This includes Windows XP SP1 or without service packs,
Windows 2000, Windows NT, and Windows 98. Microsoft also has
advisories for users of Windows CE and Windows Mobile.
A. Updates for Mac OS X have been included in
the auto updates so current versions (10.4.6 and up) include
support for the new dates. Versions of OS X prior to this and OS9
users will have to manually change the clocks in the Mac when the
time comes.
A. Yes and no. If you have made advance appointments in your calendar for future years that fall in the four "new DST weeks" you should adjust those. But once you get all your affected future appointments fixed you shouldn't have to worry about appointments you add to the calendar from then on (unless the law changes again).
A. Virtually all installations of GroupWise have been updated. GroupWise calendar users who did not apply this update in spring 2007 should follow these steps:
A. All versions of Oracle Calendar software that currently work with the NDSU Oracle Calendar system are updated make the time change on the appropriate date.
A. Any software or system that tracks times and
dates and provides automatic adjustments for Daylight Saving Time
is likely to be affected by the change. Please consult the support
sites for the software or system for more information.
Linux users should refer to the support site for their distribution for more information.
The Sun Developer' Network has an article about solutions for Java Runtime Environments and issues for Java applications.
According to a note about DST on the Palm Web site, the Palm OS used on some personal digital assistants does not generally provide for automatic time zone changes and the time should be adjusted manually at the appropriate times. However, smartphones such as the Treo 650 may provide an option to automatically set the time from the phone network time and will then automatically adjust.
