Configure Outlook for Windows

  1. From the Tools menu, select E-mail Accounts
  2. Select Add a new e-mail account and click Next:
  3. Select IMAP as the type of account that you are creating and click Next
  4. In the Your Name box, enter your name exactly as you would like it to appear to recipients In the E-mail Address box, type your e-mail address
  5. In the User Name box, type your account name (electronic ID)
  6. In the Password box, type your e-mail password
  7. For security purposes, we recommend that you do not click the box next to Remember password.
  8. In the Incoming mail server (IMAP) box, type imap.ndsu.nodak.edu
  9. In the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) box, type smtp.ndsu.nodak.edu
  10. Click More Settings…
  11. Click the Advanced tab. Under the Incoming mail (IMAP) field, check the box that says This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL). The Port Number for the incoming server should be 993.
  12. Under the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field, check the box that says This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL). The Port Number for the outgoing server should be 587.
  13. Click the Outgoing Server tab.
  14. Check the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and choose Use name settings as my incoming mail server
  15. Click OK
  16. Click Next
  17. Click Finish
