If this is the first time you've
opened Thunderbird, you may be prompted toImport Settings and Mail folders from…PressCancelto continue
the configuration process.
Click Tools and
Account Settings
Click Add Account from
below the column on the left
Highlight Email account
and click Continue
Enter your name as you would like it to
appear on messages that you send
Enter your e-mail address
Select IMAP as the type of
incoming server you are using
In the Incoming Server
field, type imap.ndsu.nodak.edu
In the Outgoing Server
field, type smtp.ndsu.nodak.edu
Click
Continue
Make sure your electronic ID (usually
firstname.lastname) is in the Incoming User Name
and the Outgoing User name
fields
Click
Continue
In the Account Name field,
enter a descriptive name (e.g. NDSU e-mail)
Click
Continue
Verify your account information and then
click Done
Select Server Settings
from the column on the left
In the Port filed, type
993
Under Security Settings
select SSL
Select Outgoing Server
(SMTP) from the column on the left
Click the Edit
button
In the Description field,
type a descriptive name for your account (e.g. NDSU
e-mail)
In the Port field, type
587
Check the box next to Use name and
password
In the User Name field
type your electronic ID (Usually firstname.lastname)
