Configure Mozilla Thunderbird
- From the Tools menu, select Account Settings.
- Select Outgoing Server (SMTP).
- Click Add (on the
right).
- Enter smtp.ndsu.nodak.edu as the Server Name. Type 587 in the Port field.
- Make sure the box next to Use name and password under Security and Authentication is checked.
- Select TLS under Use secure
connection.
- Click OK.
- Click the Add Account
button.
- Select Email Account and click Next.
- Enter you name and e-mail address (i.e.
firstname.lastname@ndsu.edu).
- Click Next.
- Choose IMAP for the type of incoming
server you are using. The incoming server name is
imap.ndsu.nodak.edu.
- Click Next.
- The User Name will default to your electronic ID (i.e.
firstname.lastname).
- Click Next.
- For the Account Name, you can either keep Thunderbird's
suggestion or make up your own.
- Click Next.
- Click
Finish.
- Go to Tools > Account Settings
- Select Server Settings under your account name
- Under the Use secure connection in
the Security Settings section select
SSL, this should make the Port number
above switch to 993
- Click OK
- Restart Thunderbird
