Virus - Hallmark

Starting Monday, November 17, 2008 it has been reported to the ITS Help Desk
a rash of email messages from postcards@hallmark.com that include a
postcard.zip attachment. This attachment is a new variation of an
existing computer virus.

Please do not open this attachment

Solution if you are infected -

ITS Desktop Support is recommending the following solution:

Disable your system restore point -

  • Right click your "My Computer" icon and select "Properties"
  • Select the "System Restore" tab
  • Check "Turn off system restore"

Update McAfee -

  • Right click the McAfee icon beside your clock
  • Select "Update now... "

Open the McAfee and run a full scan -

  • Right click the McAfee icon beside your clock
  • Select "VirusScan Console... "
  • Right click "Full Scan.. " and select "Start"

Once the scan is completed, restart the system and re-run the scan to confirm removal. Re-enable the System restore.
