Troubleshoot ConsoleOne importing

This document tells you some common techniques to troubleshoot workstations that will not import into ConsoleOne.

If, after installing ZENworks and logging into Novell, the workstation does not import into ConsoleOne the following steps may help the workstation to import.

  1. Open a command window and enter "ping zenwsimport" (Enter). If this receives a response, go to step #4. If not, there is likely a problem with the DNS settings. Proceed to step #2.
  2. If this computer has a static IP address, modify the DNS settings in TCP/IP configuration
    1. Add ndsu.nodak.edu and nodak.edu to the name resolution
    2. Insert the DNS name of the machine (do nslookup on the IP address to find the name)
  3. Clear the Novell settings in the control panel (Novell client control panel item)
  4. Delete the identification key in the registry.
    1. This is usually only necessary for machines that have not connected to the new Netware servers. If the old admin/public/master server is listed in this key, it is the cause of import problems.
  5. Unregister ZENworks and then reboot/re-import.
    1. Info at the re-register page here.
