How PRS Works

Getting Started with PRS

  1. Let us know that you want to use PRS by calling someone on the Contacts page. You will receive support by doing so.

  2. Verify that you can use the PRS technology in the classroom you've been assigned. Visit the instrumented classroom page for a list of these classrooms. If it is not listed, don't worry -- you can still use PRS anywhere on campus by signing out PRS receivers from the ITS Help Desk (IACC 150) and reserving the media cart closest to the classroom in question. (Again, through the ITS Help Desk.)

  3. Attend a PRS training session, if possible.

  4. Work with the staff at the NDSU Bookstore to ensure that enough transmitters are ordered for your class prior to the semester.

  5. Advise your students to purchase a transmitter from the NDSU Bookstore. They can visit the PRS Student Site for information about registering their transmitters.

Classroom setup for PRS

Each instrumented classroom is set up with the PRS software and the receivers installed.

If you are using a roster file, make sure that Files > Preferences > Default data directory is set to where you have your files and folders. We suggest that you use a USB drive to bring your files to and from the classroom, but remember to back up the drive regularly.
