New e-mail scams target NDSU
Published: 08-06-09 11:20

Two new e-mail "phishing" attempts have been reported at NDSU. These scams claim to come from an official source in order to trick people into revealing passwords or other personal information.

The first scam informs e-mail recipients that they need to re-configure Microsoft Outlook or other e-mail program.

The second scam tells users that they need to reply with their electronic ID and password or their webmail account will be deleted.

If you have received one of these messages, please delete it.

If you responded to one of these fraudulent e-mails, or you have questions about computer security, please contact the Help Desk at 231-8685 or e-mail NDSU.HelpDesk@ndsu.edu.

ITS will NEVER call or e-mail you to ask for your password or other personal information.
