Departmental/class software to be installed on NDSU public computers must be requested annually via this Software Installation Request Form.
To request the installation of software, please fill out and submit the following form. Then have the software and a photocopy of the license agreement delivered to Michael Wolf, IACC 206. The license agreement information must contain the total number of licenses purchased*. You are responsible for training your students to use this software. Software documentation for our consultants would be appreciated.
*NDSU has approximately 500 computers in public clusters. Some software licensing agreements allow the use of a metering program, such as Keyserver, in order to run the application in a cost-efficient manner. For example, Keyserver would allow us to install an application with only 40 licenses on 500 computers. The active metering environment (Keyserver) would allow 40 machines to concurrently run the application at any one time. The benefit of this is that only 40 licenses need to be purchased. If you would like to take advantage of this feature, either the licensing agreement should clearly state this is allowed, or an e-mail from the company that verifies the software can be used in a software metering environment would be needed. If metering is not allowed under the licensing agreement and there are budget constraints, software can be installed on a per-lab basis but will require a license for each computer within the specific lab.
Departmental/class software must be requested annually.
Software installations or renewals need to be received by the following dates:
After the software is installed, we will arrange to have it returned. We will contact you with the opportunity to test your software after it has been deployed.
