Why buy a preferred PC?
Once again this spring Information Technology Services (ITS) is working with the NDSU Bookstore to
recommend desktop and laptop "preferred PC" configurations.
The preferred models provide robust and powerful computers
for most uses and improve service and save money by;
- streamlining ordering and saving time and money spent researching all the options available,
- allowing the NDSU Bookstore to provide attractive pricing,
- reducing installation and maintenance by providing a common platform which changes less frequently than
commodity PCs,
- enhancing support through a common hardware base.
ITS is able to leverage the common hardware to provide faster and more consistent installations.
Notes: Save money and buy your systems with "Vista Home Basic". The Campus has an
agreement that will let you install Windows XP Pro on UNIVERSITY OWNED systems at no additional cost. Also
includes Microsoft office 2007 at no cost.
Save money by purchasing a 3 or 4 year BASIC warranty. 'ProSupport' may not be needed because of on
campus technical support.

OPTIONS
ITS currently has LIMITED support for Vista. You may have the option of purchasing
Vista Home Basic for your departmental computer and temorarily down-grading to Windows XP at no
cost. When Vista is supported, a free upgrade to Vista Business may be
available.
