Determine Printer IP Address

This document tells you how to determine the IP address for most common Hewlett Packard printers. Specifically this document applies to HP LaserJet 4050 Series, and HP LaserJet 5 Series.

To obtain the IP address for the printer, you will need to be at the printer. It may be helpful to print these instructions and take them with you if it is located in another room.

1. On the printer, press the Menu toggle button one click to the RIGHT.
   • This will display the "Information Menu" in the printer display window.
2. Press the Item toggle button two clicks to the RIGHT.
   • This will display "Print Configuration" in the printer display window.
3. Press the Select button.
   • This will print out the configuration of that specific printer.
4. Obtain the printout and locate a line called "HP JetSend Address."
   • Alternately, on the JetDirect Configuration Page (page 2 of the printout) will display a line called "IP Address."
   • This should be a number like 134.129.xxx.xxx
