Classroom and Media Technologies
- Classroom Technician: Classroom Technicians are student employees who help
maintain the computers and multimedia equipment in the classrooms across campus and provide general
support and maintenance in the campus computer clusters.
- Student
Manager: Along with the Classroom
Technology Manager, the Student Manager trains employees and supervises the operations of the Classroom
Technicians.
- IVN Technician: Operate videoconferencing equipment for the North Dakota
Interactive Video Network (IVN) during an IVN event or class.
- IVN Supervisor: The IVN Supervisor trains, schedules, and oversees the
basic operations of IVN Classroom Technicians.
Communication and Public Relations
- Communications Specialist: The writer/communications specialist will provide ongoing support for ITS communications
projects and marketing plans. One major focus of this position will be editing existing documentation and
Web pages to ensure information is current and presented in a consistent manner for the new ITS Web
site.
Desktop Support
- Desktop Support Technician: Consult with faculty and staff on problems with software
applications, hardware, and network connectivity by phone or in person; image machines as
needed.
- Cluster Imaging Technician: Cluster Imaging Technicians are responsible for
setting up and cloning the cluster computers.
Help Desk
- Consultant
Trainee: Under the guidance of more senior Help Desk staff, provide
in-depth, effective, and timely technical assistance to NDSU students, staff and faculty for services
offered by Information Technology Services. This assistance will be provided via telephone, walk up
support and e-mail.
- Consultant: Provide in-depth,
effective, and timely technical assistance to NDSU students, staff, and faculty for services offered by
Information Technology Services. This assistance will be provided via telephone, walk up support and
e-mail.
- Senior
Consultant: Act in a supervisory and mentoring role to Help Desk
Consultants (Tier 1) and Help Desk Consultant Trainee. Function as a first point of contact and
supervisor of Help Desk student staff. Provide in-depth, effective, and timely technical assistance to
NDSU/NDUS students, staff, and faculty for services offered by Information Technology Services, ConnectND
and services for NDUS distance education. This assistance will be provided via telephone, walk up support
and e-mail.
- Remote Cluster Supervisor: Supervise and
maintain an assigned Help Desk remote cluster area. This includes assisting in the scheduling, training
and supervision of Help Desk staff working in the assigned remote area, work closely with Help Desk
management and the Help Desk Resource Supervisor to monitor and maintain Help Desk remote cluster area
specific resources. Provide in-depth, effective, and timely technical assistance to NDSU students, staff
and faculty for services offered by Information Technology Services. This assistance will be provided via
telephone, walk up support and e-mail.
- Resource
Supervisor: Supervise and oversee the lifecycle of Help Desk
equipment and resources, including plotters, laptops, cameras and other resources made available to NDSU
students, staff and faculty. Supervise and monitor all aspects of OMR and specialty print job processing.
This includes OMR and print job tracking, maintenance and replacement of related equipment and
consumables, training of Help Desk staff, and ensuring billable services are handled appropriately.

Technical
Writer: Researches, writes, and publishes technical
materials for reports, manuals, and related technical publications concerned with installation,
operation, and maintenance of ITS supported applications/hardware and services. Individual is to works
under close supervision.
- Help Desk Student
Manager : Assist in the operational management of the ITS Help Desk,
including, but not limited to: hiring, scheduling and supervision of student employees; monitoring of
Help Desk communications (e-mail, voice mail, and problem tickets); ensure customers receive effective,
timely technical assistance with their problems; provide both end-user and internal documentation as
needed; assist in the development and supervision of training for Help Desk students; and maintain Help
Desk web pages. Maintain a high level of professional competency and work with the Help Desk Manager on
setting short and long term goals. Other duties as assigned by the Help Desk Manager.
Instructional Services
- Student Trainer: Student trainers will teach short classes on Adobe,
Macromedia, Microsoft, and other software and technology topics to small groups in a classroom setting.
Trainers will also create, update, and review training materials, as well as assist other trainers in
their duties. This position offers a great opportunity to improve your ability to assist others while
building your own skills!
Multimedia
- Web Site
Consultant: Design, develop, and/or maintain official NDSU web sites
for participating departments within a development team. Extensive background in web authoring and visual
design required, along with the ability to work within a project team on long-term projects involving
frequent customer contact.
Network Services
- Server Operations
Assistant: Provide in-depth, effective and timely technical support to all
ITS departments requiring physical hosting of servers, network appliances, storage devices and management
consoles. IACC and Research I have Server Operations rooms which are environmentally and electrically
designed to provide hosting for these types of devices. Work would take place in either of these two
areas.
Server Group
- Student System
Administrator: Install, document, and maintain servers and the
applications that run on them. Develop and maintain complex computer programs using languages such as
perl, C, and SQL.
Statistical Consulting
- Statistical Consultant: Statistical Consultants consult with faculty and student clients, providing statistical
assistance. Statistical Consultants are expected to have a breadth of background in various areas within
the discipline of Statistics. Because of this, most successful candidates are hired as PhD students
although a number of advanced Masters level students have held the position through the years. There is
no formal 'training' for occupants of these positions. The managing Statistician is usually available to
provide guidance as needed during performance of consulting duties by the Statistical
Consultant.
STS Management
- STS Manager: The STS manager
is responsible for overseeing the functions of STS and communicating on a regular basis with the STS
coordinator and other members of the STS management team, STS employees, and various ITS staff. The STS
manager will work 20-25 hours per week, with the majority of hours worked between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to
allow for adequate communication with STS and ITS personnel. The STS human resources manager and the STS
professional development manager will report to the STS manager.
- Personnel Manager: The
STS Personnel manager is responsible for overseeing STS human resources functions and procedures. The STS
Personnel manager will work 20-25 hours per week, with the majority of hours worked between 8 a.m. and 5
p.m. to allow for adequate communication with STS and ITS personnel.
- Manager in
Training: The Student Technology Services (STS) manager in
training is the entry-level position for the STS management team in preparation for an STS management
position. The manager in training assists the STS manager and personnel manager with tasks while learning
the skills and responsibilities of the management positions. The manager in training would be involved
both in human resources activities such as recruiting, interviewing, and hiring, and other management
activities such as employee orientation and leadership training. At the end of the training period
(typically one semester), if performance is satisfactory, the manager in training will be promoted to an
STS management position and receive the appropriate pay increase.
Technology Learning Center
- Learning
Assistant/Cluster Assistant: In the TLC lab: Assist students on a
walk-in or by-appointment basis, with technology-related course work and projects, including multimedia
projects. In the IACC clusters: Provide short-term software assistance, troubleshoot problems, answer
questions, refer to Help Desk or TLC lab when necessary, keep clusters tidy. Assist with developing
tutorials and other documentation as needed.
- TLC
Manager: Oversee daily operations of the TLC lab: schedule lab
hours, supervise TLC learning /cluster assistants. Oversee the multimedia area of the TLC lab: monitor
the working condition of the multimedia equipment and software, consult with customers, research current
trends and best methods, provide training on multimedia topics for various groups, and assist with
developing tutorials and other documentation as needed.
- STS Technology Trainer: The STS Technology Trainers are responsible for
teaching and assisting with the STS short courses formerly offered by the TLC. These classes will cover
college-standard topics including Microsoft, Adobe, and Macromedia software programs we well as
non-software specific topics like computer hardware, networking, and scanning.

Sponge Coordinator: The Assistant Sponge Coordinator will serve as the
first point of contact for all inquiries related to the Sponge program and will oversee all aspects of
the program. Candidates must be able to work 20-25 hours per week, with the majority of hours worked
between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. A graduate student is preferred for this position. This position may
qualify as a graduate assistantship
