Reports to: STS Manager
The STS pesonnel manager is responsible for overseeing STS human
resource functions and procedures. The STS personnel manager will
work 20-25 hours per week, with the majority of hours worked
between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to allow for adequate communication with
STS and ITS personnel. This position is a three-credit cooperative
education assignment. The assignment is renewed each semester, and
candidates should be able to commit to at least two semesters, and
preferably beyond. Tuition fees for the cooperative education
credits are paid for by ITS.

Duties and Responsibilities :
- Meet at least weekly with the STS manager
- Attend periodic meetings with the STS manager
- Consult with ITS staff as needed for assistance in resolving
personnel issues and to ensure that STS human resource policies
correspond with NDSU human resource policies
- Lead STS recruitment activities
- Receive and process applications for STS employment
- Coordinate and conduct interviews
- Oversee new employees' paperwork processes and training,
including coordinating new employee orientation sessions
- Actively participate in STS training
- Maintain personnel files and HR database in a secure
area
- Maintain the STS Employee Handbook and the STS Supervisor
Manual and update as necessary
- Work with the ITS account technician to process wage changes
and other necessary payroll paperwork ina timely fashion
- Actively participate in personnel issues that arise
- Assist with training STS supervisors in the fundamentals of
personnel management
- Work closely with STS supervisors and ITS account technician
in regards to staffing needs, promotions, and dismissals
- Monitor pay scales and STS position descriptions
- Oversee the review process for STS employees
- Administer STS work performance evalustion process each
semester
- Submit weekly progress reports to STS management team
- Oversee requests for references
- Assist the STS manager in evaluating current training
methods, and exploring alternative training methods for the STS
program
- Enforce STS work practices
- Adhere to NDSU Human Resources policies
- Maintain a high level of professional competency
- Deal with sensitive situations and information in a
confidential manner
- Work safely
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications:
- Sophomore or higher standing
- 2.5 G.P.A. or higher
- Excellent written communication skills
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Leadership experience
Preferred qualifications:
- Human resources experience (recruiting, interviewing,
etc.)
- Supervisory/Management experience
- Management-related or other appropriate academic courses or
training
- Marketing experience
- Customer service experience
- Computer skills: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Web development,
databases
