Provide in-depth, effective and timely
technical support to all ITS departments requiring physical hosting
of servers, network appliances, storage devices and management
consoles. IACC and Research I have Server Operations rooms which
are environmentally and electrically designed to provide hosting
for these types of devices. Work would take place in either of
these two areas.
Duties and
Responsibilities
- Monitor environmental conditions in these
areas and respond accordingly by either notifying appropriate
personnel or correcting the problem.
- Ensure that all reported problems are
appropriately logged and addressed in a timely manner.
- Assist in the coordination and
installation of new servers and support equipment.
- Provide the Server Operations Manager an
accurate set of documentation and ensure that all changes are
accurately reported and documented.
- Assist the Server Operations Manager with
the layout and planning of these areas. This includes all
hardware racking, mounting apparatus and copper/fiber optic
cabling.
- Ensure that all cabling and equipment is
accurately and appropriately labeled.
- Ensure that all environmental and
electrical distribution is in place and functioning
properly.
- Provide backup for the Operations Manager
(Possibly on-call duties)
Minimum Qualifications
- Basic working knowledge of
computers.
- Good people skills
- Good oral and written communication
skills
- Working knowledge of Visio, Microsoft
Word and Excel.
- Current NDSU enrolled student
- Valid drivers license
Preferred
Qualifications
- Any verifiable experience working in a
Network/Server environment
- Electronics or electrical background
- Ability to work alone or be self
directed
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
