Wimba -- a tool that allows users to connect people separated by distance via audio, video or text -- is here now, and it promises to change the way we teach, collaborate and connect across campus and throughout the world.
Wimba Live Classroom is a Web conferencing tool that transforms the computer into a powerful tool for online collaboration and it's an engaging learning tool as well. Wimba focuses attention on the content and the speaker, not on the technology!
Applications for Wimba include campus meetings and project collaboration, distance education, advising, office hours and many others. Unlike the IVN system which requires a dedicated videoconferencing room, with the proper devices Wimba can be used in your own office, in the computer clusters and in other meeting spaces anywhere with a live Internet connection.
At some point soon you may be asked to participate in a meeting or class using Wimba. Be prepared ahead of time -- attend this class to learn what you need to know to participate in a Wimba Web conference before you need it!
